The Silent Fliers – Charles Turner

During World War II, military gliders were used for carrying troops and heavy equipment to a combat zone. These engineless aircraft were towed by military planes into the air and once released, they were to land on rough terrain close to target, hopefully with as little damage to the cargo and crew as possible. Charles Turner tells of his experiences of flying many of these dangerous missions.
