The City of Waco welcomed former District 5 Councilmember, Jim Holmes, as the City’s new mayor on Tuesday, May 14th.

Jim Holmes has served Waco City Council since 2016 and brings more than 35 years of financial management experience to City Council.

The meeting also saw the return of Councilmembers Andrea Barefield and Josh Borderud, who were each re-elected for another two-year term representing Districts 1 and 3.

We bid farewell to outgoing Mayor Dillon Meek, whose nine years of dedicated service are commended. His thoughtful leadership and collaborative spirit will no doubt leave a lasting legacy on Waco. During the meeting, the City presented a special thank you video highlighting his time in office, plus a heartfelt message from his family.

With Jim Holmes now sworn in as mayor, the City of Waco is seeking applications to fill the vacant District 5 seat.
