City of Waco Fire Department Awards Presentation

The Waco Fire Department’s Awards Presentation returned on Wednesday, August 23 after a three-year hiatus.

All our firefighters are exceptional first responders prepared to keep our community safe. However, the firefighters recognized at the ceremony represent next-in-class public servants that convey merit, valor, leadership, and altruism.

During the ceremony, a total of 61 awards were presented to Waco firefighters, fire units, and a distinguished Waco resident that saved her siblings from a house fire. The awards celebrated high quality customer service, career achievements, life-saving experiences, and units with unequaled team performance. Chief Gregory Summers also presented the Fire Chief’s Leadership Award.

Lieutenant Billy Eary, Captain Phillip Burnett, and Engineer Dylan Karl each received the Jimmy Fox Memorial Firefighter of the Year Award for 2020, 2021, and 2022 respectively.
