On Friday, September 15, 2023, the City of Waco unveiled the Hispanic wall displays at South Waco Library. The displays highlight the rich history of the Hispanic American community right in the heart of South Waco.

They showcase and honor 15 influential Hispanic Wacoans in a permanent exhibit. In addition to the static exhibit, the library also features a rotating digital sign that highlights an additional 15 Wacoans and locations. Informative cards in English and Spanish are also available for visitors to take home.

A committee of community members and library staff established the criteria and made the final decisions for the displays. Their goals were to recognize the unsung heroes and their contributions to South Waco and their broader impact on society.

A public library has the responsibility of preserving and archiving local history to remember the communities and the people that helped build them. Preserving this information ensures stories are saved and our local diverse heritage is celebrated.
